Here is an animated short I made using primarily Maya. I have a ten minute short planned with this character so originally this started as a quick test animation to see what had to be changed with the character's rig and textures. It was supposed to be a 30 second clip where he walks off sad dragging his knuckles on the ground. However, he wasn't built for that and his arms weren't long enough for it to be effective. So I panicked and started running through my files for other props I could use, and quickly threw some other stuff together like the paint can (thats what he picks up at the end, he's eating paint chips.) I had the snake built from another project I was working on, so I put it in there. After all that I wrote a script, drew storyboards, recorded the audio, and went to work.

As I said, Wretch was built and animated in Maya. I layed out his uv's and then built his textures, and normal maps using Photoshop and Zbrush. I rendered the project in mental ray, which took eight tedious horrible days. Then I composited the renders as well as some clouds I painted in photoshop in AfterEffects. Then I threw it into Final Cut, edited what had to be edited (not much considering its one continuous shot.) and compressed it. Now its on youtube... thats about it.
